Diligência

Ontem foi o último dos 4 dias de ensinamentos dados pelo mestre Patrul Rinpoché sobre o capítulo 7 do Bodhicharyavatara (A via do Bodhisattva) de Shantideva.
O tema do capítulo é Diligência ("Heroic Perseverance" em inglês).

Deixo-vos alguns versos em inglês bem como alguns comentários feitos com base nos meus apontamentos:

Verso 2

Heroic perseverance means delight in virtue

Its contrary may be defined as laziness:

An inclination for unwholesome ways,

Despondency and self-contempt

Existem 3 tipos de preguiça: adiar coisas; vias impróprias; derrotismo e auto-desprezo

Verso 31

The forces that secure the good of beings

Are aspiration, firmness, joy, and moderation.

Aspiration grows through fear of suffering

And contemplation of the benefits to be attained.

Verso 40

Aspiration (motivation) is the root of every virtue,

Thus the Mighty One (Budha) has said.

And aspiration's root in turn

Is constant meditation on the fruits of action.
